What

A Reddit commenter runs Android emulator smoke tests that need KVM. Hosted runners do have it: Cloudflare Containers run in microVMs that expose AMD-V, and /dev/kvm is present in every job. Docs only:

  • actions/runners.md: a Virtualization row in the machine table and a "Hardware virtualization (KVM)" section with a working reactivecircus/android-emulator-runner workflow and the two differences from GitHub's image (no udev "Enable KVM" step; install the emulator's X libraries).
  • actions/compatibility.md: one bullet pointing there.

Tested

On a throwaway repo (not codician/diffinery), large hosted runner, 2026-10-26: KVM_CREATE_VM and KVM_CREATE_VCPU succeed; an Android 11 (API 30, x86_64) emulator booted in 37 s and emulator -accel-check printed KVM (version 12) is installed and usable. The udev step and the missing libraries failed exactly as the docs quote.
